applicant privacy notice

This notice explains how The EQ Company (“eq,” “we,” or “us”) handles personal information when you apply for a role or otherwise express interest in working with us.

information we collect

We collect the information you choose to submit, including contact details, location, work-authorization and work-location preferences, education, employment and professional history, resume or CV, public professional profiles, work samples, and your written application answers. We also process limited technical information, such as a one-way hash derived from an IP address, to protect the application system from abuse.

how we use it

We use applicant information to receive and evaluate applications, communicate with candidates, arrange interviews, verify information when appropriate, make hiring decisions, improve our recruiting process, protect our systems, and meet legal obligations. We do not ask you to provide salary history.

who receives it

Applicant information is available to eq personnel and advisers who need it for recruiting or legal purposes. We use service providers, including Vercel and Supabase, to host the application and securely store submissions. We may disclose information when required by law or as part of a corporate transaction. We do not sell applicant information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.

retention

We generally retain an unsuccessful application for up to 24 months after the role is filled or the application becomes inactive, unless a longer period is required by law, needed for a legal claim, or you ask us to retain it for future opportunities. Hired-candidate records become part of the personnel record and follow the applicable employee-retention schedule.

your choices

You may ask to access, correct, or delete your application, withdraw from consideration, or ask a privacy question by emailing team@emotionalintelligenceco.com. We may need to verify your identity before completing a request, and some information may be retained when legally permitted or required.

please submit only what is needed

Do not include government identification numbers, financial account details, medical information, protected-class information, passwords, confidential information belonging to another person or employer, or other sensitive information that is not needed to evaluate your candidacy.

changes

We may update this notice as our recruiting process changes. The effective date above identifies the version that applies to your submission.
